Getting your class 1 or 3 license

Hey guys, Jim here.

Just a bit about getting your class 1 or 3 license

Getting your class 1 or 3 license opens a number of opportunities. Of course there are driving jobs in the oil patch, but also consider delivery, moving or long haul options. By upgrading to a class 1 or 3 license you are making yourself more employable. The steps in getting your class 1 or 3 license are listed below.

Part of getting your class 1 or class 3 licence involves getting a medical (for class 1 only) and getting the class 1 or 3 knowledge test done.  It would be very advantageous to get these things done before you start the training so that you can focus entirely on your training.  We have had many students who couldn’t get these things done while doing their training and we have to cancel and move their road test dates back (sometimes as much as 10 days).  This causes problems with the students having long breaks between the training and the test, resulting in disappointment.

The medicals are good for 6 months and are @ 60.00 at most walk-in clinics, and the knowledge test costs @ 17.60 at any registry.  For more info call our office and we can help.

Alberta Transport Driver Guides

Look at the Basic handbook as a refresher, read the commercial guide cover to cover – for class 1 pay attention to the bus question.
